So full of energy yesterday...so totally zonked today. I completed the workouts, but must admit it felt like the video went on FOREVUHHHHH today. I'm pretty sure I told Tracy to "shut up" at least once during her encouragement to "stay with it" during the cardio video. One thing I need to improve upon is my water intake. It has been too low the past couple of days. I've also decreased my caffeine substantially, so that isn't helping with my energy levels. Trying to transition from "fake" energy (caffeine and sugar) to "real" energy (healthy food, water, and exercise) makes for a very tired and grouchy Beth. I'm sure my low energy is just a temporary thing and I'll be my smiling, energetic self again soon. (NO comments family members!)
I would post more, but I'm tired......and grouchy...
See you on my 10 day check-in.

Metamorphosis Day One
Okay...day one of Tracy Anderson's Metamorphosis and day one of my Fab by 50 challenge. I can't believe I'm going to post my stats for the world (or the two people who ever read this blog!) but it is all in the name of honesty and accountability. This program asks you to measure every 10 days, so I'll update my numbers on that schedule. I did take day one photos, but until I have some "after" shots to heal the humiliation of the "before" shots, they will remain in a secure and unspecified location.
Day 1 Measurements
Weight: 151.8
Waist: 31"
Hips: 42.5"
Arms: 12.5"
Thighs: 25" (YOWZA! I'm pretty sure that should be my waist measurement!)
Pinky Finger: 2" (Hey...I wanted at least one small measurement)
My thoughts after completing the first workout. As I mentioned before, the music for the dvds is mind numbing, so I put my ipod on shuffle and enjoyed my mix of latin, broadway, and Glee tunes. Changing the music definitely made the workout go faster.
I cannot do the constant high impact moves in the cardio workout, but I do keep moving and modify with lower impact steps. I generally pick up choreography quickly, but Tracy moves fast and changes the moves constantly, so it will be awhile before I can get all of the routine memorized. Today I did some "freestyle" moves whenever I was totally lost. Here is a youtube video of this bouncy cardio: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cE04kbarIwc
The Transform (toning) workout was much easier to follow than the cardio. I can keep up with the arms and abs segments, but she kills me once we get to the lower body workout. The workout consists of five or six different segments with approximately 40 reps of each move. You do them all on one leg and then switch to the other leg. OUCH! Today I was able to do 25 or so of each move before flopping on the mat and glaring at the tv. I have no doubt these moves will work if I can just do them all. I'll work on it! If you would like to see a sample of this workout, here it is on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qLSde540NWw
So, how do I feel? Tired and a little sore, but I'm sure that will get better after a few more workouts. If you have used the Metamorphosis workouts, I'd love for you to post your thoughts in the comments section.

| Day 1 completed. That sure is a lot of empty boxes! |
| I am going to be spending a lot of time in here. And no...the gate in the corner is not to keep me locked in the room until I complete the workout. Although, that might not be a bad idea! |

First Up...Tracy Anderson Metamorphosis
I am beginning my journey with Tracy Anderson's Metamorphosis 90 day program. I have done some of the workouts before and really liked the strength/toning workouts, but struggled with the cardio portion. She uses the same cardio workout for the entire 90 days and it consists of high impact, jumping movements involving unusual angles. The music is boooooorrrrriiiinnnngggg! However, she does state that you can mute the tv and use your own music mix. I'll definitely try that this time. If I get enough requests in the comment section, I might even post a video of myself doing the cardio workout. Trust me, it would generate some great laughs.
The other workouts also use non-traditional movements and very light weights. The movements are geared toward working your smaller muscles and I can testify that you WILL feel those muscles the next day. Tracy claims you will change your body shape with her workouts. If she can change this old lady's pear shape, she will be my new best friend!
I should share that I do not believe her diet plan is very healthy, so I will not be following it while using her exercise program. I prefer to create meals using the Clean Eating and Beyond Diet recipes. I've also been enjoying one or two nutri-bullet drinks each day. They look a little gross, but actually taste pretty good and have definitely increased my overall energy level.
Okay...enough talking...time to get started!
The Countdown Begins
Counting down to my FIT & FABULOUS FIFTIES! I am determined to be in the best shape of my life when I blow out those candles. I'm ready to say goodbye flabby forties and hello fab fifties!
